Who We Are

Somanetics Corporation (NASDAQ: SMTS) is the pioneer and leader of cerebral and somatic (of the body) oximetry, providing U.S. clinicians with the first adult cerebral oximeter, the first pediatric cerebral oximeter and the first simultaneous brain and body oximeter. Known as the INVOS® Cerebral/Somatic Oximeter, this noninvasive patient monitor continuously measures changes in blood oxygen levels in the brain and in the body of patients who are at risk for restricted blood flow so clinicians can detect and correct a variety of threatening complications. Today, the INVOS® System is in use at 700+ U.S. hospitals, including 80% of centers performing pediatric cardiac surgery, plus 1,200+ installs internationally.

Surgeons, anesthesiologists, critical care nurses and many other medical professionals use the INVOS® System to better manage the hemodynamic stability of their adult, pediatric, infant and neonatal patients. These clinicians have authored or presented 600+ papers and medical lectures describing the clinical and patient benefits they receive from the INVOS® System. As improved patient outcomes are reported in the operating room and intensive care units, interest from clinicians in other specialties grows, reflecting broad appeal by emerging and future markets as well.

  • Our Connection - Somanetics connects with clinicians at more than 70 medical conferences annually to hear first-hand their needs and challenges. Product initiatives stemming from these interactions are then fostered through clinician advisory panels and beta testing.
  • Our Product Evolution - The INVOS® System is now in its sixth generation, reflecting software and hardware enhancements that our customers asked for. We also continuously refine INVOS® System sensors for patients, most recently launching the OxyAlert™ NIRSensor for infants and neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit and beyond.
  • Our Employees - Fifty percent of our customer field team have worked as clinical caregivers, making them acutely aware of patient and clinician needs. They are dedicated full-time to supporting clinicians cerebral/somatic oximetry efforts, meaning our customer's focus is their focus.
